Educational/Occupational Screening Tests/Immunisations
Usually there will be a fee for immunisation and/or screening tests required by an employer or educational institute as they are not covered by the NHS. Please make an appointment with a nurse to check.
Cervical Smears
These are recommended every three years for all women over the age of 24 to 49 and then every five years from the age of 50 to 64. A practice nurse will carry out this examination. The health authority operates the recall system; you will be invited to attend the surgery for a repeat examination at the appropriate interval.
Contraceptive/Hormonal Implants
There are contraceptive implant sessions available daily at the end of morning surgeries with a female doctor. On Mondays and Thursdays the sessions can accommodate patients requiring contraceptive/hormonal intra-uterine contraceptive devices. These appointments can only be booked following a consultation and full counselling with your doctor in a general surgery appointment.
Family Planning
The doctors are able to offer comprehensive family planning advice.
Maternity Care
Maternity care is carried out by your doctor and the midwife who works both with the practice and the hospital. This provides continuity of care both ante and postnatally.
